Polypropylene (PP)

PP is tough, but flexible and resistant to chemicals. In addition, PP’s high melting point makes it ideal for hot-filled liquids. The most common use for PP in thermoforming is in the production of food packaging.

Characteristics:

Clarity – mostly colored opaque or translucent
Strength – very soft and resilient (zero cracking)
Versatility – tough and flexible
Barrier to moisture
Resistance to chemicals, grease, oil, and heat
Long heat cycle
Some shrink issues
Very high yield
